毎年５月１０日は、東京のご寺院で琵琶説教をさせていただいてます。今年もお伺いしました。平日の雨にもかかわらず、１００名以上の聴衆がお集まり下さり、説教冥利に尽きるひとときでした。もう１５回目になりますが、貴寺では 説教師と聴衆が良い緊張感で成立している印象です。これも 寺内の方々の 教化の賜 と存じます。

最近、「まだ 飽きずに 琵琶やってるの？」とか「まだ 奉職寺院で 下積み してるの？」と よく聞かれれます（笑）。悪気がある発言でないことは重々承知ですが、苦笑いするしかありません。他者は その人の内面（成長）より、役職や肩書きで評価することが多いものです。グローバル化の影響で、” 目に見える変革 ” が当然とされる昨今ですが、” 変わらぬもの ” の中にも 大切なものがあると思います。もちろん需要があれればこそですが・・・。
曹洞宗の僧侶・枡野 俊明師のお言葉です。
「今度、京都に行くんですが、どこかおすすめのところはありますか？」仕事で京都に行く機会が多いからでしょう。私はよくそんなことを尋ねられます。ただ、おすすめしても「あそこは何年か前に行きました」なんて言葉が返ってくることが多いのです。そういうとき、私はこういいます。「いや、そのとき見て感じたことと、今度行って感じることは違いますよ。そうでなければ、あなたは成長していない、ということです」たいていは「えっ！」と驚かれますが、リーダーはこういった視点を常に持っていなければなりません。同じことをやっていても、昨日と今日では感じることが違うはず。そこに気づくことが成長なのです。私たち禅僧の修行は、毎日同じことの繰り返しです。そのなかで昨日できなかったことが今日できるようになったり、昨日気づかなかったことに今日気づいたりします。この気づかいが大きい。いろいろなことが学べます。それを数か月、数年、数十年と積み重ねていくことで、人間としての円熟味がましていくのです。それが「昨日今日不同」という禅語の意味するところです。(『リーダーの禅語』 三笠書房）
以前にも申しましたが、私は ” リピートに耐える ”・・・これが一番の 成長の糧 だと思ってます。毎回 同じことの繰り返しでも、自他共に ” 気付き ” があれば最高です。考えて見れば、お寺でも、時代劇でも、遊園地でも、なじみの店にしても 変わらぬものに安心を得ることが多いのではないでしょうか。しかし 変わらぬことにも努力が必要です。その需要と供給の理解（切磋琢磨）が日本文化の根源であり、そういったことを学ぶ場がお寺という存在です。どのような生き方であっても、生涯 感謝の心で、昨日より今日、今日より明日と「昨日今日不同」の心で成長していきたいものです。そのような環境を与え続けて下さる東京のご寺院、檀信徒様に心より御礼申し上げます。合掌
帰りの新幹線が満員でしたので、初めて グリーン車に乗り 贅沢しました。 疲れ方が全く違います♪ たまに乗るので、 気付きや喜びが湧くのかもしれません。
