先日、大阪明星中学校の１年生に琵琶説教をして来ました。平成２１年より毎年お招きを受け、今年で９度目のご縁でした。この学校はキリスト教を旨とする ６年間の中高一貫教育ですが、中一時に 私の講演に触れることになり、現在の明星学園 全生徒が私を知ってる計算となります（笑）。積み重ねは怖いものです。
群読発表
私の出番は、古典の授業の一コマです。今年は生徒２５６名が礼拝堂に集まり、保護者聴衆の元、群読をされました。群読とは複数で分担しながら行う朗読のことです。この授業では、『平家物語』の「扇の的」をいかに臨場感を付けて読めるかを競います。その後、私が 「扇の的（那須与一）」の物語に節や音を付けて琵琶を披露します。

私は、人間の成長の法則を、誰にでもわかりやすい言葉を使って「３つの心」という形で示しています。どんな人も、赤子の時代は、誰かに支えてもらい、助けてもらい、与えてもらって、初めて生きてゆくことができます。私たちは皆、その段階から人生を始めています。もらうことによって生きる。このときの心は、「もらう心」と表すことができます。赤子は「もらう」ことが何よりの喜びです。その心を持つ私たちは、何かを与えてもらい、支えてもらい、助けてもらうことを当然とするでしょう。
しかし、成長するにしたがって、人は、何かをしてもらうだけではなく、自分で「できる」ことを求めるようになってゆきます。歩くことができるようになり、文字が書けるようになり、話ができるようになり、算数ができるようになり、仕事ができるようになり・・・といった具合に、「できる」ことを増やしてゆくのです。「できる」ことを喜びとし、それを増やしてゆこうとする心を「できる心」と呼びます。「できる心」は、今日、もっとも多くの人々が抱いている心と言えるかもしれません。それは様々な自己実現を求める段階です。
しかし、私たちの魂の成長は、そこで終わるわけではありません。さらに、その先があるのです。それは、自分のことを超えて、誰かに、出会う人々に、関わる方々に、何かをしてさしあげることを何よりもの喜びとする「あげる心」です。この「あげる心」こそ、私たちが本来抱いている「魂の力」を引き出すものです。自己の完成をめざすだけではなく、共に生きる人たちの力になる。周囲の人たちを励まし、支える力になる。同じ時代を生きる人たちを押し出す力になること。
「もらう心」「できる心」「あげる心」
単純な言葉ですが、これは、与えられる自分から、自分の力を育む段階を経て、さらに自分を超えて、広がるつながりに応えてゆく私たちの魂の成長の法則を表しているのです。 （『運命の逆転』 三宝出版）
中学一年は、新たなことを学ぶ年となり、すべてが受け身（学ぶこと）が前提となります。つまり「もらう心」の段階です。そして努力をし、自信がつくと「できる心」になり、やがては「あげる心」へ。年を重ねるにつれ、だんだん質が高くなっていくものと存じます。こんな不器用な私でも、何かをあげることができ、得も言われぬ幸福感を味わってます。と考えると、「あげる心＝布施」が人間の幸福の根源なのだと思います。
今年も人々から様々なものを「もらい」ました。この嬉しさ、苦しさを噛みしめ、また私なりに「できる」よう精進し、人々に「あげれる」よう布施したいと思います。それが、自他共の幸せに繋がれば幸甚です。今年一年、本当にありがとうございました。よいお年をお迎え下さい。合掌

It’s as if we constantly judge ourselves based exactly what
our lives say about us. This includes our children’s performance.
Deep down in the recesses with the items we really believe, we say,
“if our kids fail, we fail.” That is one mentality will surely have
some merit to it, as a society, we’ve taken it to an extreme.
What does your instinct tell to be able to do right now?
Just take the initial thought you think of.
Don’t fight it, and also get unfocused. Just grab the first thing that
drifts into their heads. That first thing is your priority.
A person thought of first are some things you should want to do.

in Forest High School’s football stadium, located at 5000 SE Maricamp Rd.
in Ocala. My girl Crystal Bowersox had promised to put it back up, doing something quite
different. Instead of guitar, she would accompany herself on piano for
the Gladys Knight song, “Midnight Train to Georgia.” She performed with backup singers around the piano, wearing a rust-colored dress along with a fitted top, and
stilettos, her long hair retracted. Even though she was watching her hands while
she played, her voice was still powerful. Then she got up, leaning against the piano to steady herself on her heels, but even that didn’t throw her own.
On the bridge, she took off like a bird released from a cage; brilliant.
The look isn’t her, but she was glorious. In contrast
to Siobhan’s patented scream, she delivered a very controlled finishing.
“How was school?”, on the other hand I felt that
she wanted to tell me something, but was very nervous about telling me.
