先日、ある介護施設へ慰問に行きました。大事な檀家さまがお勤めの場所なので、喜んで参りました。利用者さんは地元の方々が多く、私の祖父母や父母のことをよく知る方々が多かったです。様々な ” 縁 ” によって、この場所に来たんだなぁ…と実感しました。
正直言いますと、京都での勤めと同時に 住職の役目を全面的に担うようになり、私のプライベートの時間は皆無です。ですから琵琶のお稽古は ほとんどできてません。現在は綱渡りの布教活動ですが、その分 私の人柄が音色や説教に出て良い と仰って下さる方も多くなりました。自己を高めることに懸命になっていた私にとって、不思議なほめ言葉です。それはその時期なんだなぁ … と 今を楽しんでします。
西郷隆盛師のお言葉です。
「人は克己心によって成功し、利己心によってしくじる。八分方（はちぶがた）うまくやってきたのに、後の二分でしくじる人が多いのはなぜか。うまくいくと利己心が大きくなる。そうなると用心を怠り、楽をしたがり、結果的にしくじるのだ」
人生は、人と人の繋がりによって成り立ちます。環境によって色々回り道はするでしょうが、克己心（自分の欲望をおさえる心・自制心）は忘れてはいけないと思います。人間は縁によって生かされているのですから … 。逆に 利己心（自分の利害だけをはかって、他人のことを考えない心）のみに生きる人は、一見、得しているように思えても、最後の肝心なところで 大きくつまづきます。大きな目標を持ちつつ、克己心を忘れないことが成功の秘訣です ［これは ある檀家さまから学びました］。恩やお陰を忘れ、利己心だけの 餓鬼にならぬよう、バランス良く人生を送りたいものです。人生の晩年に、利用者さんのような笑顔がでれば最高です。そんなことを感じさせられた慰問でした。合掌
利用者さんたちと「次の世代に伝えられることは何か？」を話し合いました。

I’m amazed, I must say. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head. The issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I came across this in my hunt for something relating to this.
Next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesn’t disappoint me as much as this particular one. I mean, Yes, it was my choice to read through, but I actually believed you would probably have something interesting to talk about.
